THE FAMILYestates

Vignobles Jean Médeville & Fils is a family-run business founded nearly 200 years ago by Jérôme Médeville. Today, it is made up of four estates located on both the Right Bank and the Left Bank of the Garonne, mainly within the Cadillac and Graves appellations.

CHÂTEAU FAYAU

at the heart of cadillac

Château Fayau is the birthplace of the Médeville vineyards. Acquired by the family in 1826, its winegrowing origins date back to 1711. Located about 30 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux, its 64 hectares of vines overlook the town of Cadillac, once the stronghold of the Dukes of Épernon.

CHÂTEAU GABELOT

between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers

Château Gabelot was once the home of the Gabelou, the royal officer in charge of collecting the gabelle (the historic salt tax). As a wealthy man, he owned land around his residence — today a 20-hectare vineyard. Since the 2020 vintage, the estate’s wines have been certified organic.

CHÂTEAU PEYREBLANQUE

on the white stone soils

Château Peyreblanque takes its name from its terroir, rich in limestone: peyrebanca in Gascon means “white stones.” Its 11 hectares are located on the remarkable gravel soils of Budos.

CHATEAU DU MOURET

at the heart of the graves

Château du Mouret bears the name of the locality in Roaillan where it stands, at the heart of the Graves appellation. Acquired by the Médeville family in 1973, the estate has been patiently restored to its original 18-hectare vineyard, after having been dismantled over previous decades.
